Stridsbergsbron
Premator painted the new bridge – Stridsbergsbron in Trollhättan, Sweden
The Stridsbergsbron bridge is a testament to true engineering. It is Sweden's largest double-span flap bridge in terms of length, width, and weight.
All steel span and flap parts of the bridge were built and painted in sections in Halmstad, after which the sections were transported to Trollhättan for assembly, painting of section joints, launching, and final touch up painting.
The manufacturing method, with pre-fabrication, and the different stages of the launch process, were a real challenge for everyone involved and a good opportunity for us at Premator to present our capabilities, know-how and work flexibility.
Facts about the bridge
Total length: 254 meters
Flap weight: 580 tons/piece
Total weight: 20,000 tonnes
Year of construction: 2020-2023
The bat friendly bridge
The coloring, lighting and side railings on the Stridsbergsbron bridge are bat friendly. In the area, there are many bats that have their hunting grounds above the Göta Älv river, where especially the rare pond bat needs to be protected. By adapting the bridge and avoiding light reflections into the water, the bats can hunt as usual.
